Our guest KOL will spill everything she knows about tried-and-tested jewellery and OOTD pairings for every possible occasion – from professional looks using a small selection of timeless basics to luxe casual, whether glam or urban.

Kathryn Wong is a Hong Kong actress, model and KOL. She finished 3rd runner up at the 2017 Miss China Pageant (Hong Kong representative). In the same year, Kathryn made her acting debut in an online drama, Treasure Island. She starred in a Hong Kong movie, The Leakers, in 2018 and starred in a comedy film, Keep Rolling, the following year.

Kathryn also had a successful modelling career. Today, she devotes herself full-time to the jewellery industry where her interest and passion lies.

In this session, you will learn how to experiment with different colours and textures, and discover subtle ways to transform your look by simply mixing and matching jewellery pieces of different shapes, sizes and materials. The key is to try as many combinations as possible, and find the look that showcases your unique personality!

Multi-awarded fashion designer and artist Meiyi Cheung is known for constantly pushing the boundaries well beyond the familiar. Her intimate experience with international and China brands has honed her expertise in striking a balance between creativity and commercial appeal. In 2003, Meiyi established Paragon Design Ltd. In 2014, she opened her own boutique, WHOSTHATshop and created her own brand WHOSTHAT. Her collections show her unique perspective on the convergence of fashion and art, and her passion for “Design without boundaries.”

In the area of fine arts, Meiyi exhibited at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum (HKHM) and the Museum of Modern Art in Taipei. Five of her fashion pieces are currently collected by HKHM. In addition, she drew paintings for the Four Seasons Hotel in Beijing.

Jewellery industry veteran Tommy Tsui will deliver an engaging presentation on the most loved and most recognised precious metal in the world – gold. In this session, Tommy will delve into mankind’s enduring fascination with gold and how it has captured our imagination in the decorative arts throughout the ages.

Tommy Tsui has worked in the jewellery industry for more than 40 years, specialising in jewellery production management, and diamond and gemstone purchasing and identification. He is an FGA (Fellow of the Gemmological Association) and DGA (Diamond Member of the Gemmological Association) member of The Gemmological Association of Great Britain.

A consultant at the China Gems Laboratory of Luk Fook Group, Tommy serves as director of The Gemmological Association of Hong Kong and the Gems & Jewelry Trade Association of China. He is also a member of the National Technical Committee on Jewelry and Jade Standardization of China.

Since its discovery more than four thousand years ago, the emerald has kept intriguing by the splendour of its colour and the properties it has been attributed. Ms. Mathilde Rondouin is an art historian specialising in the field of European decorative arts. She is a professor at L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts.

Dr. Miro Fei-Yeung Ng is a gemmologist with a chemistry background (PhD from the University of Hong Kong). The Past & Future of Fei Cui Design

Since the Qing dynasty, Fei Cui (jadeite jade) holds a very special place in Chinese culture. The gemstone, prized for its incredible green colour, was favoured by the Imperial Court and has since been synonymous with nobility, beauty and perfection. Today, designers and jewellers are making this much-loved gemstone more accessible through contemporary designs.

In this presentation, Fei Cui expert and jewellery designer, Yen Kwan, will give an overview of the evolution of Fei Cui jewellery designs and styles, from the Qing Imperial Court and the Shanghai era to modern times. Yen will also share outstanding examples of Fei Cui jewellery pieces showcasing Chinese craftsmanship and even Western-inspired designs. Join this session and discover the many faces of Fei Cui today!

Yen Kwan is the Vice Principal of The Hong Kong Institute of Gemmology (HKIG), and manager of and jewellery designer at China-based CMOY Jade. He has been the director of The Master Valuer Program in China since 2000. Yen obtained his Diamond Member of the Gemmological Association (DGA) status in the same year.

Before joining the company, Karen launched her professional career as a specialist dealing in structural financial products at several leading investment banks. With her strong financial background and natural talent for gemstone identification, Karen is extensively involved in the merchandising, and internal and sales operations of the family business. She also serves as Vice Chairperson of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA) where she manages the JJA Junior Committee.

HJI runs both bench-based jewellery courses and co-working space for independent jewellery designers. HJI is dedicated to teaching jewellery silversmithing and jewellery design, offering the “next-step” approach for professional development within the industry.
